Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report April 22-29

Spring seems to have finally arrived here in Ascension and Espiritu Santo Bays, and with it, higher temps and humidity levels, and winds typically trending out of the South East. Weather this week consisted of three gorgeously idyllic days with high sun and breezes that varied from light to nonexistent, followed by three fierce and blustery days featuring darker, more complicated skies. Accordingly, the first few days produced the most angling success, with several nice permit boated despite less than prolific shots on average; nobody reported seeing the giant schools this week as earlier in the month. Anglers managed to find some great bonefish as well, and to a slightly lesser degree with a few notable exceptions, tarpon and snook. As the weather deteriorated so did the catch rates, but guides and anglers still eked it out in a good spirits and managed a number of memorable catches- there were scorpions consumed-not to mention a really good time.
