This week brought a relatively steady weather conditions with some wind changes each day. Some days were quite calm with a North wind and other days brought a stronger South wind We even had a couple of periods here and there where the wind was 0, which is rare down here. This was the build-up to the full moon, which the moon getting brighter and brighter nightly, ending with the full moon on Friday.

There is much debate as to what the full moon does to the fishing but overall many people believe that the fishing gets better up until the night of the full moon then gets tough for a few days after due to fish feeding at night. Regardless, anglers in Ascension Bay had ample opportunities on all species this week. There were a couple of permit caught earlier in the week, and most anglers decided to spend the windier days mid-week in the Santa Rosa Lagoon System where we can find refuge from strong winds. Anglers experienced great bone-fishing and managed a few tarpon and snook back in the Santa Rosa back country. The bone-fishing continues to produce down here and we found several bonefish over 4 lbs this week.

We had three folks catch their first permit ever, Steve, Jason A and Jason W this week. Many anglers found snook and tarpon throughout the week as well.

Merry christmas to all and tight lines!
