Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report Feb. 14-21

Happy to host once again the Frank Osha Memorial Bonefish Tournament, this year with 14 anglers participating, a fantastic group. Weather was a little tougher this week in terms of wind strength and cloud cover, but there were still some ideal days, along with one impressive rain and thunderstorm that made for a slight rain delay towards the end of the week. Lots of bonefish caught for the tournament, with most anglers focusing on that species, including a banner day where one boat took 60 bonefish. Of course it was the ladies’ boat!  Several snook and tarpon and tarpon as well but fishing for that species was slow overall for the second week in a row, just not many fish seen. Permit were scarce for the tournament goers this year. At the other lodge dedicated permit anglers had a bit more luck, with 12 permit overall and 3 grand slams.
