Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report Feb. 28-March 7

5:52 am , March 24, 2015 0

Full moon week. Ideal fishing weather for four out of six days. Mild winds, warm temps, and good visibility until the end of the week, when cloud cover and wind strength increased. The strong permit trend continues, with a total of 17 to hand this week, two grand slams and good numbers of all target species, including some very respectable snook and tarpon. Tarpon fishing seems to be back on track in the backcountry, anglers are once again seeing plenty of fish that want to eat and jumping their share of those. This week at least, the theory that they eat all night during the full moon and can’t be enticed during the day had no basis. Bonefish plentiful as always, and we are starting to see better numbers of the larger fish than we have been in the last two weeks.
