Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report January 13-20 2018

The anglers this past week at Playa Blanca experienced an unwelcome January cold front. The first day of fishing provided the best conditions for  targeting the Palometa and returning Permit angler Mike Ward took advantage of the window boating 3 with guide Jorge. The northern front came on strong as the week began and kept the air and water temperatures low. The sun did not cooperate with wind and air temps and added to the problems by disappearing for the entire week. The Permit disappeared and the water temps stayed in cool in the bay as well as the backcountry. Tough conditions forced good patience out of the Anglers and they did their best to make the most of it. Husband and wife team Linda and Dave found success throughout the week targeting Bonefish and managed to jump a few Tarpon in the Lagoons with guide David. Steve from Pennsylvania released a Permit with Carlos and Mike Ward added another Permit to his tally. A few snook were located throughout the week as well with Mike Ward releasing a big linesider in the middle of the week. Thanks to all the anglers this week for their good work on the water and great attitudes at the lodge!
