Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report June 02-09 2018

The first week of June emerged last week and began the final stretch to end of our season. Fishing hosts Brad and George jumped on the airplane and headed back to the states and the team at Casa emptied the lodge and began some low season projects including an overhaul of the kitchen and a new Palapa in the dining area. The weather stayed at a consistent 10 to 15 miles per hour but the sun played hide and seek throughout the week.

The anglers at Playa last week consisted of Joe Wolfchuck returning with his good friend Hank, Yosh from San Francisco, and a wild bunch from Austin Texas that included Ben, Will, Mark, Brandon and Jonothan.  The beginning of the week paved the way for Jonothan to release a big Permit while his buddies experienced some tough Permit fishing luck. Will stuck 2 nice fish early in the week but both became unbuttoned, Ben had a bunch of shots and Brandon slid off the bow to chase schooling fish but couldn’t get it done. Mark was a beginner to the saltwater world and kept himself busy with big bones and few trips to the Tarpon lagoon. Yosh returned to the beach mid-week all smiles after releasing 9 snook in one day and Hank and Joe put a consistent bend in the rod while boasting a very good day in the Tarpon lagoon by putting a dozen fish in the air. The seasons are changing on Punta Pajaros with late afternoon summer storms beginning and the temperature dial is on a slow increase and should be heated up by the beginning of July. Big thank you to the new anglers that traveled to Playa Blanca last week and the team looks forward to your return next year.
