Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report June 09-16 2018

The middle of June rained in the first wave of tropical weather and made for a week of tough conditions. Two separate fronts emerged from South of Punta Pajaros and from the West and converged together directly over our Island. Casa Blanca was closed with repairs and renovations so the gang at Playa buckled down and tried to make the most out of high winds and rain. Joe, Jim, Henry and Mary Jo, Dan, Jeff, Clay and Josh all did their best to put a bend in the rod and Sunday and Monday provided the opportunity. Jim started the week off with 2 Permit releases and scorpion consumption while the rest of the gang stuck some bones and Josh had some tough luck having a nice Permit spit the hooks. Mary Jo returned with Henry from last year and enjoyed her week releasing nice Bones and Hunting for Tarpon. The Tarpon lagoon was a hit last week producing a lot of larger Tarpon shots and releases as well as a few Snook. Then the rains and wind reached tropical storm levels and the gang buckled down at the lodge. There were a few missed fishing days and a delay trying to leave the Island but at the end of the week everyone was in good spirits (while enjoying good spirits in the rain) and headed off the island when the storm broke. The whole staff wants to thank the Anglers for keeping a great attitude during a less than favorable week. Thank you again and we can’t wait to see you next year.
