Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report May 20-27

A challenging weather week but not without its highlights, including special first catches and personal bests exceeded. The fishing was by no means easy. Winds cranked hard out of the ESE throughout and milky skies created that worst of flat white glares. For a trifecta of trials and tribulations we added the lowest water and tidal patterns of the year thus far, an atypical phenomenon for late May that had even our twenty-five year veterans scratching their heads. Whatever the reason for the extreme change, fish distribution on the flats seemed to be affected, and many of the ‘usual’ spots were light on fish. That said, all species were caught this week and those that were, were well earned.
