The end of May and beginning of June was on fire! The winds at the beginning of last week trickled out of the East-Southeast and the cloud cover disappeared for the beginning of the week. Both the wind and light conditions became difficult towards the end of the week but by that time the Anglers had accomplished their goals.
The group at Casa was a very familiar site for all of us at Punta Pajaros which included Allen Gant, Allen Gant III, Mason, T.W, Winburn and newcomers Andrew, George and Alf. The inagural visit from Allen and Crew was quickly proclaimed as the best fishing they had ever seen in Ascension Bay. The week started off with T.W and Mason both boating beautiful Permit and Allen stuck 2 of his own. The fisherman returned to the dock with stories of very large schools of Permit congregating all over the place and were in disbelief at the numbers of fish as well as the number of hours they spent targeting them. The week continued to provide electric action and Allen added to his numbers with a Grand Slam while his son Allen enticed a large Permit of his own. Alf and Windburn were all smiles after both of them Super Slammed on the same day, fishing out of the same boat and newcomer Andrew managed to release his first Tarpon. The week became more challenging towards the end but the Anglers at Casa Blanca enjoyed premiere fishing while the Sun was out.
Playa Blanca also enjoyed the return of familiar faces and played host to Marty, Andy, Chris, Deed, Chris L., Alejandro, Fernando and David and Tracy with their son Kyle. Not to be outdone the Anglers at Playa also took advantage of the pristine conditions early in the week. Chris Hale got things started with a 3 Permit day on Sunday while Chad, Deed and Alejandro also released a black tail of their own. The big Tarpon continued to swim the Oceanside and the group boated a few over 50 pounds as well as put a handful of big boys into the sky. The week continued and Chris managed to release multiple Permit on a few more days, Dave released a big Permit, Marty got his hands on a Permit for the first time while his fishing partner Andy released his own and Alejandro added to his totals with a grand slam as well. The beginning of June arrived with fireworks and we congratulate the whole crew on a fantastic week of fishing. See you next year.
