Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report October 14-21 2017

Difficult angling conditions persisted throughout the week at Casa and Playa Blanca. Clouds and scattered rain showers were present daily hindering visibility, while winds were unusually light out of the NE.

The lack of visibility led to difficult Permit fishing. Despite the conditions, anglers had a several shots daily with most of the fish landed being smaller fish from schools.  Anglers reported a few shots at large single tailing finish as well, and a few lucky ones were able to seal the deal, notably guide Pato and John S,  with the fish of the week out of A Bay. Bonefish provided relief from the difficult permit fishing, as anglers who targeted bones had plenty of action to keep them busy.

The tarpon and snook fishing in the backcountry lagoons continues to be hit or miss. Because of the daily rain flurries, the backcountry lagoons are high and churned up. Anglers still brought several of each to the boat, but off color water made finding these fish much more difficult.
