Casa and Playa Blanca Lodges Fishing Report January 12 to 19

The middle of January brought with it glimpses of great weather but also mixed in a few days of heavy winds and some rain. For the most part the clouds made it a difficult week but all the Anglers stayed determined and put up some nice catches.

Casa Blanca welcomed a few newcomers to Punta Pajaros. Karin and Henry Wilson came to Casa via Alaska and Jackson Hole and the other couple that spent the week with us was Ian and Vicky Mackintosh. Monday provided the 2 couples with the best weather of the week and they took advantage of it. Henry and Karin ventured across the bay to find some feeding Snook and tailing Permit and Jacks while Vicky practiced her newfound Saltwater skills with husband Ian on some large bones. The 2 couples ventured into Santa Rosa for the remainder of the week searching out Snook and Big Bones while the NorthEast winds continued to push down from all the poor weather in the United States.

Playa Blanca ushered in a large group from the Pittsburgh area. The Donahue crew consisted of Chris, Jim, James K, James Jr., Murph Sr., Lee, Ted, Chris M., Will, Father Drew, Dan, Mike, Bill and Tom T. Murph Sr. took advantage of the good weather on the first day and boated a huge Permit. Jim D. And Mike boated a few nice snook and the rest of the crew put a steady bend in the rod releasing bones. The weather turned to extremely tough conditions but the crew did keep up the good Bonefishing with Tom stealing the show on Tuesday with 20 plus pound Permit, a snook and a big bone ! Chris D finished the week with a beauty snook and then Friday provided some better weather for Permit shots all day. January continues to be up and down with the weather but has provided a handfull of clear sunny days that seem to produce great fish at every appearance. We are all looking forward to more good chances at the end of the month.
