Weather cooperated for the guests at Casa and Playa Blanca this week. Visibility was solid, with minimal cloud cover and the wind was very light out of the east. Despite favorable weather conditions, fishing for Permit was notably challenging. Anglers had a number of shots each day, but reported the fish to be as finicky as ever.

At Playa, Notorious backcountry angler, Mike Thom, found success in the lagoons of Santa Rosa. He was able to land a handful of tarpon on the week. The couples group from Texas kept their rods bent with ample opportunities at bonefish. Bonefish were plentiful and eager to eat anglers well presented flies. The ladies of the group took advantage of the nice weather and spent an afternoon hand lining for snapper on the reef. They caught on quick and were able to feed the lodge that night!

At Casa Blanca we hosted a group from Missoula MT. The weather allowed for 3 great days of Permit fishing. They group was mainly fishing for permit and Jim successfully landed his first ever. Tony produced a super slam to cap off his week in Ascension Bay. We are looking forward to having more days with good sun and stable winds.
